Ajinkya Madhukar Rahane (born 5 January 1988, in Nallasopara, Maharashtra) is an Indian first class cricketer He is a right-handed batsman, who plays for Mumbai & Mumbai Indians.
He is one of the only 11 players to have scored more than 1000 runs in a single Ranji Trophy season. Ajinkya Rahane is an exciting top order batsman who bats at No. 3, was a crucial factor in Mumbai’s 38th title win. He progressed through the Mumbai ranks and has also been a part of the Indian U-19 team and also ‘India A’.
Rahane has also turned out for India Blue & Green in the Challenger Series and also West Zone in the Duleep TrophyA s of 27 December 2010, he averages a high 69.01 in first-class cricket, which currently places him in the top 4 batsman in the world with the highest first class batting averages.
An aggressive & consistent batsman, in the mould of Ricky Ponting, he is being considered as one of the candidates likely to replace Rahul Dravid .
